4 Healthy Addictions

4 Healthy Addictions

The term healthy addiction is a contradiction. In itself, the term addiction refers to a dependence to something, usually drugs or alcohol. However, there are certain healthy addictions, if you want to call them that, that won’t make you feel guilty. Today we will discuss about whether you can take an addiction too far.

Exercising. You cannot go wrong with this. It helps to keep you in shape, burns calories, builds muscles and paves the way to a healthier lifestyle. This is one of the best addictions that you can have. If you choose the appropriate exercises, you can practice them every day.

Being Outdoors. How many times are we not told to get some fresh air? Being outside is healthy for your body. Sunshine helps you up your vitamin D levels, meaning that you protect yourself against diseases. Also, it is great to take a break from the real world and just unwind. Nature is a powerful healer.

Singing. Even if you do not have the greatest voice, you can still have your own private concert. Sing in the car, in the shower, in front of your mirror. It is one of the healthy addictions that you can have. It serves to relax you and put you in a better mood. Whip out your favorite playlist and belt out those tunes!

Arts and Crafts. Whether it is painting, drawing, pottery or whatever else, there is no limit to self-expression through art. Physiologists encourage to release your creative energies. Try your hands in different crafts and see what you are good at.

However, do take note that anything can fall into the other extreme. This also includes those healthy addictions that on the surface seem to do no harm. For example, eating. Practicing restriction when you eat is healthy. However, it can easily fall into an eating disorder. Also, spending too much money on your hobbies is something that can happen, too. Throwing yourself head first into something and not practicing moderation is not a solution.
