Delicious Popcorn Chicken

In order to make popcorn chicken you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • one tablespoon of salt-free Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts; cut them into1 inch pieces
  • 8 pepperoni peppers
  • ¾ cup of beer
  • 1 quart of vegetable oil
  • Some lemon wedges for squeezing on top (optional)
  • Cocktail sauce or ranch dressing for dipping the popcorn chicken (optional)

Delicious Popcorn Chicken

First of all, you begin by seasoning your chicken with 1 ½ tbs of Cajun dressing. To this, add about one tbs of salt. Now, get a large bowl and mix in the remaining ingredients. Pour in the all-purpose flour, the beer, the salt and the remaining Cajun seasoning. Stir the ingredients together until they are thoroughly mixed and there are no lumps. Toss in your chicken and the peppers inside of this batter and coat it completely.

Heat up some oil inside of your oven at 375 degrees. You will work in batches, frying the chicken a couple of pieces at a time. Drop the chicken inside of the oil and fry it for 3 minutes. Stir the chicken pieces gently halfway through cooking.

Secondly, prepare a baking sheet lined with paper towels beforehand. You will need this once the chicken has finished frying in order to remove the excess oil. With a wooden spoon, remove the chicken pieces from the oil. So, place them on the baking sheet and let them cool down before you serve them.

All in all, this is a delicious and easy to do recipe that gives a nice twist to your usual meals. Take note that the popcorn chicken should be served immediately after cooking. When you heat it up or you eat it cold, it loses some of its texture and flavoring. Also, you can serve it with ranch dressing, cocktail sauce or even with lemon wedges.
