If you are looking to lose weight, you might already know by know that some foods are to be avoided. While others might help you lose weight, these certain foods annul their effect and negatively impact your weight.

If you’ve made the decision to lose weight, you have set yourself onto the right path. You will considerably reduce the risk of potentially deadly health conditions. In terms of heart diseases, strokes, diabetes, and even cancer, you will decrease your chances.

Here are some foods to avoid if you want to lose weight:

Sugary cereals. Forget about them and their endearing commercials. These cereals usually contain high amounts of sugar and have little to none fiber, minerals and nutrients. Opt for a more healthy breakfast that includes oatmeal, fruits, Greek yogurt or eggs.

French fries. Although you might love them, they are very harmful. High in calories and fat, french fries have an unhealthy amount of carbohydrates as well. Eliminate gradually fried ingredients from your diet. Try boiling, grilling or cooking them in the oven.

Diet soda. It might seem like a healthier alternative to regular soda, but it refoods-to-avoid-lose-weightally isn’t. Sweetened with artificial sweeteners, diet soda only stimulates your appetite. Try eliminating it from your diet. Choose instead plain water and infuse it with fruits and vegetables.

Commercial salad dressings. Rich in fat and calories, commercial salad dressing might taste better, but their effect is bitter. Opt instead for extra-virgin olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice and herbs.

White bread. With little nutritional value, white bread is rich in carbohydrates and starch. Befriend whole grains: bread, pasta or brown rice. It might be a little difficult in the beginning, but you will get used to it.

These are just some of the foods to avoid if you want to lose weight. Keep to a minimum your processed meat, sugary and salty products. Look for healthier alternatives to traditional ingredients and find new combinations to make your food interesting. Don’t forget to hydrate properly and exercise regularly!
