Homemade Calendula Lip Balm

Homemade Calendula Lip Balm

Homemade lip balm is amazing! And it is also very easy to make. You only need a couple of ingredients and some free time. Lots of chapsticks that you find on the market contain petroleum jelly. This is not very good for the skin, being a product of the oil industry. This is a cheap and far from natural ingredient that gives a false sense of hydration. Therefore, we should try to use as many natural products as we can when it comes to our face and skin. Today we will do a simple calendula lip balm.

You need 0.75 oz of lavender oil and 0.75 oz of calendula oil. You will also need one oz of beeswax, 1.25 oz of coconut oil and a few drops of vitamin E. Now, to make your calendula lip balm you can either use a double broiler or a mason jar in a pan of water. For the second option, put in your beeswax, vitamin E oil and coconut oil. Gently heat up the water and let the ingredients melt together. Let everything cool off slightly before you pour the essential oils. If you add them too soon, then they will burn.

The next step is to pour the melted ingredients into chapstick tubes or in lip balm tins. You can use whatever container you desire, however. Let the lip balm cool off completely before you begin using it. Vitamin E oil is a great addition. The end result will offer you soft and moisturized lips. The beeswax sometimes gives off a nice, honey smell too. It depends on how natural the product is.

This recipe is enough for about 25 calendula lip balm tubes. If you are using little tins, then you will get a couple of those, too. Either way, it is enough for you to use and to share with some of your friends. Sharing is probably the best part of the whole process. You can customize the labels on the tubes or tins for a nice, personalized gift.
