How Long Does Henna Last?

You’ve just got a new henna tattoo and you are probably really excited about it. But now you are probably wondering how long does henna last. This can be either because you want to remove it or you want to keep it on longer. Fear not! We are here for you.

I guess that the answer to this question depends on more than one thing. It can depend on its location, the wearer’s skin type and the lifestyle you have. For example, if you decorate your hands, then the tattoos will fade quicker. This is only normal, considering that you will wash your hands frequently as well as touch things constantly. On other parts of your body, you can expect the tattoo to last up to three weeks.

Tattoos on areas with thinner skin, such as the hands, usually last around one week. The arms and legs can hold the stain a bit better, reaching up to two weeks, give or take. The tops of your feet, however, can keep the stain for 3 weeks. Thicker skin such as the soles of your feet resist even better, surprisingly.  The upper torso is oilier than the rest of your body. This means that it won’t hold the henna as well.

It just generally depends on the quality of the henna, the location as well as the exposure to other elements. If you want it to last longer, then we have a few tips for you. To achieve a better stain that will last longer, try to keep the paste on for longer. Try to keep that area clean and dry for at least half an hour.
Do not worry, because henna is safe for decorative purposes and not only. When you apply it to your skin, it has a role of protection and can even keep away UV rays. People use it to treat a large variety of problems, from headaches to hair loss.
