Easy Shea Butter Body Lotion

Easy Shea Butter Body Lotion

It very simple to make a Shea butter body lotion with a smooth consistency by using just a few ingredients. Unfortunately, lots of online recipes that I’ve seen do not have the right consistency and look very greasy or very hard. They look more like a butter rather than a lotion. But do not fear! I have the perfect recipe right here for you.

I hope that you will love this product as much as I do. It is intensely moisturizing and extremely easy to make. However, I need to mention that this lotion will not be extremely liquid. It contains only Shea butter and olive oil as main ingredients.  Let us look at the ingredients list a bit:

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – It’s a great emollient and rich in vitamin E as well as fatty acids. It nourishes the skin and protects it from impurities.
  • Lavender Essential Oil – Soothing and calming, lavender is excellent for people with sensitive skin. It soothes irritations and other skin conditions such as eczema. Plus, its floral scent makes it pleasant for both men and women.

Ingredients

  • 5 oz of raw Shea butter
  • 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil

First of all, melt your Shea butter inside of a double broiler. If you don’t have one, make a makeshift boiler by placing the small bowl with Shea butter in a pan of water. Once it melts, you can also incorporate the olive oil and stir well. Take it off the heat and then let it cool off a little.

Once it cooled down, you can incorporate the lavender oil. If you place it in when the mixture is too hot, then it will burn out. Place the bowl in the freezer and leave it to cool off for 10 minutes. Once you take it out, it should be at least partially solidified.

By using a hand mixer, whip the ingredients for about 5 minutes until you obtain a creamy consistency. Now you can store it in a nice jar and it will last you a long time. Well…depending on how much you use it.
